Mercedes-Benz India working towards EV skill development

German luxury manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has announced the introduction of an industry-focused unique EV model in its Automotive Mechatronics (ADAM) Course. Mercedes-Benz aims to reiterate its commitment towards developing a future talent pool in India to make them industry-ready. By offering and conducting academic upskilling initiatives, the brand plans to promote diversity and equal opportunity for auto industry-based women.

Mercedes-Benz introduced this EV model for ADAM course at the Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha (MKSSS Women’s College) in Pune. The brand has introduced the 1-year course across multiple Indian institutes – Government polytechnic (GPP), Pune, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT). Other examples include Bhubaneswar, Government Engineering College, (GEC), and Barton Hill Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, among others.

The EV Module: Details 

As part of the 12-month long Advanced Diploma in ADAM’s course, the EV module will act as a public-private partnership. The initiative will help upskill students with the latest technological advancements, with courses being split into subtopics for easier understanding. Meanwhile, the course will offer an understanding of the latest cutting-edge EV technology on par with global industry standards. Along with imparting knowledge about advanced levels of systems in vehicles, the course will raise awareness about HV Systems & measurements.

Additionally, the course will teach students about personal and vehicle safety, along with offering an opportunity to get hands-on expertise. Mercedes-Benz introduced the ADAM course in 2006 as an initiative to build competencies and skills throughout the automotive workforce. The brand successfully operates nine technical institutions in various cities across the country, during which it trained 1200+ students. Since 2018, MKSSS university has achieved a 100% placement rate for its students, which has greatly benefited students and the industry.

Other News 

During the final week of January 2022, Mercedes-Benz stated that it will introduce the 2022 W206 C-class sedan in India. Launched in 2021, the 2022 W206 C-class will arrive in Mercedes-Benz dealerships across the country by May 2022. Additionally, the automaker also revealed its plans of bringing the Maybach S 580 luxury sedan to Indian shores in 2022. Along with expanding its retail network, Mercedes-Benz will also introduce multiple AMG models along with the EQS electric sedan.
