Maserati launches MC20 in India at INR 3.69 Crore

Maserati fulfils its promise of bringing the MC20 supercar to India. Initially, the plan was to bring in the supercar in July 2021. Now almost after two years, Maserati has finally launched the MC20 for the Indian market. The Maserati MC20 will retail with a price tag of INR 3.69 crore (ex-showroom, India). This is the base price and of course, with add-ons, the price will increase further. The MC20 is the first all-new launch from Maserati in India in recent years. It will take on other options in the market namely, Porsche 911 Turbo S, Lamborghini Huracan and Ferrari 296 GTB.

Maserati MC20 Powertrain Highlights

MC20 is the spiritual successor to the MC12 supercar from 2004. The mid-engined MC20 is Maserati’s first car in over 20 years to feature an in-house-developed engine. The engine has its name, Nettuno, which is a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine. This motor makes 630 HP and 730 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed, dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Maserati can do a 0 to 100 kmph run time of just 2.9 seconds. Meanwhile, the top speed is set at 325 kmph. The MC20 makes use of carbon fibre and other lightweight materials. And thus resulting in a claimed kerb weight of less than 1,500 kg. This weight translates to a power-to-weight ratio of more than 420 HP per tonne.

Maserati MC20 Design Highlights

The design of the MC20 speaks loudly of the original MC12. With the MC20 we get a rather clean look, with flowing lines and minimal use of aerodynamic appendages. The key design highlight is the butterfly doors.

The interior is rather minimalist and thus, the interior is rather simple and draped in carbon-fibre Alcantara or leather. There’s also a 10-inch digital instrument display and a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The carbon fibre-covered central console gets only the drive mode selector. It also gets a wireless smartphone holder, infotainment controls and a few other small functions.

Maserati Upcoming Launches For India

After the MC20 coupe, Maserati has plans to bring its convertible version, the MC20 Cielo. We believe the Levante hybrid SUV is also in the cards for the Indian market.
