Maruti Suzuki’s new hygiene & safety protocols, for reopening dealerships

Depending on permissions from the local authorities Maruti Suzuki has announced that the brand will be following new health and safety guidelines to ensure the protection of its customers, employees and dealer partners from the COVID-19 outbreak as the brand plans to open up dealerships as soon as approvals from the Govt is released. 

The new standard operating procedures laid down by the brand include measures to be taken right from the moment a customer walks into a showroom to the delivery of the vehicle. Maruti Suzuki has studied the procedures in a scientific manner and built a number of SoPs that will be followed across 3,086 showrooms located in 1,964 towns and cities across the country. 

Safety starts from home and the brand encourages interested buyers to make use of Maruti Suzuki’s online purchase channels through their websites where customers obtain feature details, technical specification and can even personalise vehicles by mixing and matching from the line of accessories available online. Buyers can also digitally submit their documents required for purchase of a motor vehicle. 

Maruti Suzuki will be monitoring the health of all its employees through a wellness app and those who have reported being healthy for 14 consecutive days are only allowed to resume work. The wellness app works in conjunction with the Govt. Arogya Setu app and tracks health status for all staff members. The brand has also employed contactless infrared thermal scanners, sanitizers, compulsory face masks and staggered lunch timings have been implemented. 

In addition, Maruti Suzuki has conducted detailed training of its dealership staff across the country to maintain a safe environment for the employees and its customers. A detailed Do’s and Don’ts manual has also been circulated among personnel and a strict monitoring mechanism has also been put in place.

The brand will be sanitizing all test drive vehicle before they are sent for test drives and new guideline dictate that only one customer will be allowed for a test drive along with one relationship manager who will be sitting in the back row of the vehicle ensuring social distancing policies. 

Maruti Suzuki has new SoPs for car deliveries as well. The brand will be providing doorstep deliveries and all personnel visiting the customer’s home will be following strict procedures such as wearing masks, carrying hand sanitizers and maintaining distance. The cars out for deliveries will also be sanitized and disinfected inside-out.
