Maruti Suzuki is working on a new electric MPV codenamed ‘YMC’. Maruti Suzuki will retail the YMC first, which will be later rebranded for Toyota. The company already shares products such as the Baleno/Glanza, Grand Vitara/Hyryder, Innova/Invicto etc. In a similar fashion, Toyota will also launch the YMC electric MPV at a later date.
Maruti Suzuki YMC to Make its Debut in 2026
Reports reveal that the Maruti Suzuki YMC is likely to make its debut by September 2026. The YMC is also likely to be a part of the aggressive launch campaigns that the brand will be running over the coming years. The three-row YMC EV is likely to hit production volumes of 50,000 units in its initial stages.
Maruti Suzuki EV – Production Volumes
A couple of years or three after the launch the YMC along with the eVX are expected to 2.5 lakh production volume per year. The brand is also likely to export the vehicles which is likely to drive its production volumes higher. At this rate, the brand is also plans to become the largest produce of electric vehicles in the Indian market by the year 2027-28.
Platform sharing on the YMC will also help Maruti Suzuki boost its sales volumes. In addition to this, platform sharing will also help both brand to expand the economies of scale as well as to keep the prices in check. For a price sensitive market like India, the low price tag is likely to generate high sales volumes especially in the electric vehicle segment.
Maruti Suzuki eVX
Coming to the eVX, Maruti Suzuki is likely to announce the pricing on the electric SUV by Mid-2025. Toyota will also be sharing a brand-engineered version of the eVX and is likely to arrive around a year later. The Toyota’s version of the eVX is likely to be based on the Urban SUV concept.
