The Global NCAP test results for the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso are here. Under its new and upgraded crash test protocols, which came into effect in July 2022, S-Presso has secured a 1-star rating for adult protection and a 0-star rating for child protection. The India-spec S-Presso was also previously tested by Global NCAP in 2020. At that time it received a 0-star rating for adult protection and a 2-star rating for child protection. GNCAP test results have become quite detrimental. Customers are more aware of these safety ratings.

2022 Maruti Suzuki S Presso Adult Occupant Crash Test Ratings

In the crash tests, the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso received a 1-star rating for the adult occupant protection test. It scored 20.03 points out of a maximum of 34. This score includes 11.9 points for the side deformable crash test and 8.19 points for frontal offset impact.

In the frontal impact test, the protection offered by S-Presso for the driver’s and passenger’s heads was rated as ‘good’. However, the testers flagged that the driver’s chest offered poor protection. This is where S-Presso lost major points. Meanwhile, for the passenger’s chest, the S-Presso offered marginal protection.

The side crash test is a compulsory test in the new GNCAP norms. Here S-Presso showed marginal protection for both the driver’s head and chest. Although the abdomen and pelvis protection safety rating was good.

For child occupant protection, S-Presso scored a total of 3.52 points out of a maximum 49. The hatchback achieved a CRS (child restraint system) installation score of 3.52 points and a total of zero points for both the dynamic score and vehicle assessment score.

In the previous protocol, the regulation did not require child dummies for the side impact tests. However, under the updated norms they are now compulsory, and the S-Presso offered full side impact protection.
