Maruti Suzuki has launched the S-CNG variant of the WagonR with a BS6 emission compliant engine starting at the price of INR 5.25 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. The S-CNG variant WagonR will be offered in two trim options LXi and LXi (O). After the Alto S-CNG and the Ertiga S-CNG models that were launched recently, the Maruti Suzuki WagonR S-CNG is the third BS6 compliant CNG fuel model made available by the brand, which is in-line to their ‘Mission Green Million’ commitment.
The WagonR is based on the brand’s new Heartect platform and the LXi trim features body-coloured bumpers, clear lens headlamps, chrome-accented grille, a roof antenna, dual-tone interiors, front power windows, heating and air-conditioning, rear parcel tray, reddish amber themed instruments cluster with fuel consumption indicator, gear shift indicator, low fuel warning, etc.
On the safety front, the WagonR gets driver-side airbags, ABS with EBD, seatbelt reminder with buzzer, over-speed alert system, reverse parking sensors, central locking and child-proof lock on the rear doors.
The BS6 compliant WagonR S-CNG comes factory fitted with dual interdependent ECUs (Electronic Control Units) and an intelligent injection system along with a tank capacity of 60 Ltrs (Water equivalent) and the brand claims a mileage of 32.52 km/kg. The S-CNG vehicles are tuned from the factory to offer a balance between optimum performance and fuel efficiency.
The outgoing BS4 compliant WagonR comes with 1197cc, 4-cylinder engine that produces 58.3 hp of power and 78 Nm of torque with CNG fuel and 81.8 hp of power and 113 Nm of torque with petrol. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and front wheel drive. The WagonR is 3655 mm long, 1620 mm wide, 1675 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2435 mm.
The S-CNG models in the brand’s line-up are aligned to the company’s commitment towards green sustainable mobility solutions, called the ‘Mission Green Million’, announced at the Auto Expo 2020. Through its ‘Mission Green Million,’ the company aims to sell 1 Million green vehicles in the coming years.
