Maruti Suzuki recently unveiled the pricing of its highly-anticipated Grand Vitara SUV. The latest SUV from the brand will be available through NEXA dealerships across the country and will be the flagship offering under the NEXA brand.
We’ve previously compared the specifications of the Grand Vitara with its main rival, the Hyundai Creta. But now, we have the final piece of the puzzle, the pricing. Hence, in this post, we compare the pricing of the two mid-size SUVs and see how they stack up.
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Vs. Hyundai Creta – Variants
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will be available in a total of 6 variants across 2 trims. The 2 trims are – Smart Hybrid & Intelligent Electric Hybrid. The former is the mild-hybrid version, while the latter is the strong-hybrid version. Meanwhile, the 6 variants are – Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Zeta+, Alpha & Alpha+.
The Zeta+ and Alpha+ variants are exclusive to the Intelligent Electric Hybrid trim. The Intelligent Electric Hybrid is only available with an e-CVT transmission. Meanwhile, except for the base Sigma variant, the other Smart Hybrid variants are also available with an automatic transmission. Additionally, the Alpha variant is also available with Suzuki AllGrip, but only with manual transmission.
Hyundai Creta
On the other hand, Hyundai’s Creta is available in a total of 8 variants. This also includes the recently introduced Creta Knight Edition. The variants are – E, EX, S, SX, SX Executive and SX (O). The Creta Knight Edition is available with the S+ and the top-spec SX (O) variant.
Unlike the Grand Vitara, the Creta is available with 3 engine options and 5 transmission options. These include naturally-aspirated petrol, a turbo-petrol and a diesel engine option. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed iMT, an IVT transmission, a 6-speed torque converter and a 7-speed DCT.
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Vs. Hyundai Creta – Pricing
Pricing for the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara starts at INR 10.45 lakh ex-showroom for the Sigma Smart Hybrid. Meanwhile, the pricing tops out at INR 19.65 lakh for the Alpha+ Dual-Tone Intelligent Electric Hybrid variant.
On the other hand, pricing for the Hyundai Creta starts at INR 10.44 lakh ex-showroom for the E 1.5 MPi MT variant. At the same time, the Hyundai Creta’s range tops out at INR 18.24 lakh ex-showroom for the 1.5 U2 CRDi Diesel AT SX (O) Knight Edition Dual-Tone.
Since the Grand Vitara only comes with a petrol engine, albeit with mild- and strong-hybrid tech, let’s compare it against Creta’s petrol options. The difference between the starting price of both SUVs is a mere INR 1,000.
On the other end, the most expensive petrol-powered Creta, the 1.4 Kappa T-GDi DCT SX(O) Dual-Tone, costs INR 18.15 lakh ex-showroom. Meanwhile, the top-spec Grand Vitara costs INR 19.65 lakh ex-showroom, thus, making it INR 1.5 lakh more expensive than the top-end Creta petrol. Importantly, these are ex-showroom prices, and the difference between the on-road prices could be even bigger.
