The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is almost ready for launch. The Indian carmaker is expected to reveal the pricing of the crossover anytime soon. Hence, today we have a product comparison with the upcoming Fronx and the Renault Kiger.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx vs Renault Kiger : Size and Dimensions
The Fronx measures 3,995 mm long, 1,765 mm wide and has a height of 1,550 mm. The wheelbase of the car is 2,520 mm. Meanwhile the Renault Kiger comes in at 3,991 mm long, 1,750 mm wide and 1,605 mm tall. The wheelbase of the Kiger is 2,500 mm. Overall, we can notice that both cars are pretty closely matched in terms of sizing. But, the Kiger comes out taller than the Maruti Fronx.
Powertrain comparison : Maruti Suzuki Fronx vs Renault Kiger
Maruti has offered two engines with the Fronx. These include the 1.2-litre NA petrol and the 1.0-litre turbo petrol. The former makes 90 PS and 113 Nm while the turbo petrol is good for 100 PS and 147 Nm. In terms of transmission options, the naturally aspirated engine comes with a choice of 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic. Meanwhile the turbo petrol comes with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter gearbox.
Renault too has offered two engine options with the Kiger. The first one is the 1.0-litre NA engine rated at 72 PS and 96 Nm. The other engine is the 1.0-litre turbo petrol which churns out 100 PS and 152-160 Nm. Customers have a choice of both automatic and manual gearbox options with both these engines. The former comes with 5-speed MT / AMT while the latter comes with 5-speed MT / CVT gearbox options.
Safety Features : Maruti Suzuki Fronx vs Renault Kiger
Amongst the two crossovers, the Renault Kiger has managed to get a 4-star GNCAP rating. The Kiger comes with 4 airbags. Meanwhile the Maruti Fronx has yet to be tested. The Fronx is based on the Baleno’s Heartect platform. Fronx comes with 6 airbags. Common safety features include ABS with EBD, electronic stability program and hill hold assist amongst others.
