Mahindra XUV700 scales The Highest Motorable Road – Umling La Pass

Mahindra has announced that the all-new XUV700 has added another feather to its cap. The SUV has now reached the highest motorable road in the world, Umling La. The Mahindra XUV700 has become the first Made-In-India car to reach the new global landmark with the new achievement. The SUV had to conquer high mountain passes and traverse over challenging terrain to get to Umling La, which is 19,300 feet above sea level. This makes Umling La 1667 feet higher than the Everest Base Camp. The expedition was undertaken by driving enthusiasts from the automotive fraternity in partnership with CarAndBike along with Auto Today.

Mahindra XUV700 Umling La Expedition

Enthusiast from the automotive fraternity drove the two Mahindra XUV700s from New Delhi all the way up to Umling La. The automatic petrol engine powered the two vehicles. The first day of the expedition started in Delhi, and the cars covered Delhi to Manali on Day 1. On Day 2, the vehicles covered the distance between Manali to Leh. The SUV drove from Leh to Hanle on Day 3, and reached Umling La on Day 4.

Mahindra SUV DNA

According to the brand, the Mahindra XUV700 showed a spirited performance despite the gradually dipping oxygen as the vehicle gained altitude. The powerful 200PS engine stood steadfast to Mahindra’s SUV DNA and performed well in challenging conditions. The XUV700 pushed through sand, gravel, mud, broken roads, and asphalt laden roads during the expedition. The brand also boasts that the XUV700 went through steep up-hill, down-hill and water-crossings reaching its destination with a hiccup. 

Mahindra XUV700 National 24 Hours Endurance Record

Recently, the Mahindra XUV700 also broke the National Endurance Record in 24 hours Speed Endurance Challenge. The XUV700 broke the endurance record by a considerable margin and clocked more than 4,000 km. The previous record was set in 2016, with a distance of 3161 km in 24 hours. The new record took place at the latest Mahindra SUV Proving Track (MSPT) near Chennai. The XUV700s during the challenge averaged a speed range of 170-180 kmph at the track.
