Mahindra utility vehicles have released their sales report for May 2023. The carmaker posted a total sales including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, three-wheelers and exports. This figure is up by 14 per cent to 61,415 units in May 2023. The figure stood at 53,726 units sold in May 2022. But it was an MoM decline as compared to total sales across all segments. The figure stood at 62,294 units in April 2023.
Mahindra passenger vehicle segment was led by UV sales which grew by an outstanding 23 per cent YoY to 32,883 units in May 2023. This is up from 26,632 units sold in May 2022. The YTD sales also saw a 38 per cent growth with 67,577 UVs sold during the April-May 2023 period, an increase from 48,800 units sold in April-May 2022.
The demand for Mahidra’s range of utility vehicles too is very high. The waiting period for Scorpio Classic, Scorpio N, Thar and XUV700 extends from 6 months to 18 months. In addition to this, Mahindra continues to face supply chain issues. Thus, procuring airbag ECUs and crash sensors for passenger vehicles is getting difficult.
With the latest SUV launches, Mahindra as a brand is in much demand. With blockbuster hits like XUV700 and Thar, customers are flocking in big numbers to Mahindra showrooms. Now, with the 5-door Thar in the works, the excitement is about to reach new highs. Customers have been waiting for a long for this 5-door Thar to arrive. Now, with practicality in place, more customers will wish to become a part of the ever-growing Thar family.
Car and van sales on the other hand dipped 99 percent YoY and YTD to just 3 units and 7 units respectively. Accounting for all the total passenger vehicle sales stood at 32,886 units. This is up by 22 per cent from 26,904 units sold in May 2022. Meanwhile, the YTD sales improved by 37 per cent to 67,584 units in the April-May 2023 period from 49,430 units sold in April-May 2022.
