The EV industry in India is expanding at a rapid pace. This is true even for the commercial segment as well. Mahindra Electric recently announced that its fleet of vehicles has now crossed 400 million+ kilometres. Interestingly, this came in just three years and two months, which is quite remarkable. With 400 million kilometres on the odometer, Mahindra has saved close to 40,000 metric tonnes of CO 2 emissions. And this translates to planting 18.5 lakh trees required to absorb the equivalent emissions. With this achievement, Mahindra electric became India’s number one electric 3-wheeler company. Mahindra Electric And Its Plans For The Future
With the automotive segment inching closer to electric, Mahindra aims to introduce more products. Mahindra Electric forms an integral part of the USD 19.4 Billion Mahindra Group that aims to shift its focus away from ICE engines. Over the years, Mahindra Electric has launched some game-changing products in this segment. This includes the e2oPlus hatch, the Treo range of 3-wheelers and the electrified eVerito sedan for the passenger and commercial segment.
Commercial Segment Getting Electrified
With the increase in demand for last-mile deliveries, electric vehicles are being preferred over traditional ICE vehicles. The reasons are plenty, firstly, EVs are much more economical and thus increase profits. Furthermore, the maintenance demand for an EV is also much lesser when compared to its ICE counterpart. This ensures a hassle-free and convenient ownership experience.
With lesser moving parts and rapid development, EVs are getting more reliable. And lastly, the environmental aspect of zero tailpipe emission acts as a social benefit both for the delivery company as well as the customers. Mahindra Electric, along with a host of other EV makers, are bringing in heavy investment in this sector. Days are not far when EVs will outnumber ICE vehicles, and this is a very welcoming shift.
