Rumours suggest that French automotive manufacturer Renault may join the Indian EV market by introducing its all-electric Megane E-Tech crossover. Renault first unveiled the Megane E-Tech at the Munich Auto Show in September 2021, utilising the purpose-built CMF-EV platform. This allows the Megane E-Tech to showcase great space on the inside whilst offering enhanced dynamism on the road. Alongside the Megane E-Tech crossover, the automaker may also introduce the Arkana SUV in India from its international portfolio.
Renault Megane E-Tech: Design Details
Inspired by the 2020 Megane eVision concept, the Megane E-Tech crossover sports Renault’s ‘sensual-tech’ design language, combining sensual features and technology. At the front, the electric crossover sports uniquely shaped LED DRLs with slim headlamps and an enclosed front grille. Meanwhile, the front bumper elements sport aerodynamic blades on either side that house the side air-vents offering maximum aerodynamic efficiency.
If Renault does introduce the Megane E-Tech in India, it will probably sport 18-inch alloy wheels instead of 20-inch rims. Additionally, the Megane E-Tech also sports electronic door handles that lie flush with the bodywork and protective strips. Renault has equipped the electric crossover with micro-optical LED taillights and a light bar that showcases a 3D shimmer-like effect.
Renault Megane E-Tech: Powertrain Specs & Features
If Renault does decide to introduce the Megane E-Tech in India, then it’s likely to sport 2 battery pack options. The base 40kWh battery pack powers the electric motor to produce 130 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, top-spec versions get the 60kWh battery pack that powers the electric motor to produce 218 PS and 300 Nm. Based on WLTP testing, the 40kWh battery pack offers 299 Km of claimed range, whereas the 60kWh offers 469 Km.
On the inside, Renault has equipped the Megane E-Tech’s interiors with recycled fabrics and textures to reduce their carbon footprint. The front cabin also houses the 12-inch, portrait-style touchscreen infotainment system that runs an Android-based operating system with Google Maps. Along with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, drivers can also use the all-new 12.3-inch digital driver’s display. Based on numerous speculations, Renault may introduce the Megane E-Tech in India via the CBU route as a test product.
