Mahindra will soon add another model to the Bolero range, the Bolero Neo Plus. The Bolero Neo Plus will join the other models in the lineup, namely Bolero SUV and Bolero Neo. Mahindra did not have a Bolero Neo earlier. The company gave the TUV300 a nip and tuck and repositioned it as the Bolero Neo. Mahindra will do a similar thing with the Bolero Neo Plus. The new model is essentially the TUV300 Plus that was on sale in India. We now have new specifications and variant details thanks to a leaked document.
The TUV300 had to adhere to the 4-metre length for tax exemptions. Meanwhile, the TUV300 Plus was larger. The lower variants of the TUV300 Plus would overlap with Bolero’s, while the top variants would overlap with Scorpio’s. Hence, it was not a very popular choice amongst buyers. Mahindra discontinued both the TUV300 and TUV300 Plus after the BS6 emission norms came into effect in April 2020. Last year, Mahindra introduced the Bolero Neo, and now it will soon introduce the Bolero Neo Plus.
There have not been any spy shots of the vehicle to give us an idea of how it will look. However, expect Mahindra to give it similar styling updates it did when TUV300 transitioned to Bolero Neo. Hence, expect a new grille, headlights and bumper at the front. The sides would remain mostly identical, although there will be a new alloy wheel design and different side cladding design. At the rear, the taillights could also see a redesign.
The company will introduce the Bolero Neo Plus in two seating layouts and five variants. The seating options will include either a seven-seat version or a nine-seat version. Additionally, Mahindra will also offer an ambulance version that will have a patient bed and seat up to four others.
As for the engine, it will use Mahindra’s 2.2-litre diesel engine, which is tried and tested. The TUV300 Plus also used the same engine. Also, the engine is available on the lower variants of the current-gen Scorpio. The Bolero Neo Plus will come with two driving modes. In the normal mode, the Bolero Neo Plus would make 120 PS. At the same time, the figure drops to 95 PS after switching to economy mode. The only transmission option will be a 5-speed manual on all variants. It is unlikely that Mahindra will offer a four-wheel-drive option on the Bolero Neo Plus. However, the company will equip it with an engine start/stop feature.
According to the leak, the Bolero Neo Plus will measure 4,400mm in length, 1,795mm in width and will be 1,812mm in height. At the same time, the wheelbase would be 2,680mm. In comparison, the Mahindra Bolero Neo measures 3,995mm in length, 1,795mm in width and 1,817mm in height. Hence the major difference is in the length of the SUV.
