Lotus reveals Eletre EV, brands first ever SUV

Lotus has unveiled the brand’s first electric SUV dubbed ‘Eletre.’ Lotus has revealed that enthusiasts can now reserve the new Lotus Eletre through the brand’s online sales channels. Furthermore, Lotus also announced that the deliveries of the all-new electric SUV are scheduled for 2023. Upon launch, the new Lotus Eletre electric SUV will rival the likes of the Mercedes-Benz EQC, Jaguar i-Pace, Audi e-tron, in the luxury electric vehicle space.

Lotus Eletre EV – Design Highlights

The Lotus Eletre EV comes with a futuristic design. However, the EV receives the core tenets and the DNA from Lotus’ 70 years of experience in sports car design and engineering. The hyper SUV features a snazzy yet progressive design evolving the brand into a desirable all-new lifestyle car maker. The Eletre not only comes with a graceful and exotic look but also gets active aerodynamics offering a dramatically porous design adding to the new levels of premium. The SUV features an aggressive front end with sleek LED clusters and large extractors on the bonnet. The car also comes with a coupe-esque rear with a rakish rear windscreen and LED wraparound lightbar.

Lotus Eletre EV – Interior Features

On the inside, the Lotus Eletre EV comes with a multilayered dashboard with a minimalist design. The Eletre comes with a squircle steering wheel and a large infotainment screen in the centre. The 15.1-inch O-LED touchscreen is positioned in the landscape orientation. The passenger side of the dashboard also provides a plethora of information using a ribbon display integrated into the dashboard. The centre console includes storage trays as well as beautifully sculpted cup holders. The Lotus Eletre also features a 1380-Watt 15-speaker KEF sound system as standard, upgradable to a 2160-Watt 23-speaker Uni-Q 3D surround sound technology. 

Lotus Eletre EV – Powertrain

Powering the Lotus Eletre EV is an 800V electric architecture based on Lotus’ Electric Premium Architecture platform. The EV comes with a dual motor setup producing over 600 Hp of power. Lotus claims that 0-60Mph (96.5 kmph) can be achieved in just 2.90 seconds. The electric SUV is also capable of achieving a top speed of 257 kmph and offers an electric range of 595 km on a single charge. 

Lotus Eletre EV – Autonomous Features

The electric Hyper SUV comes with features such as the world’s first deployable LiDAR system and advanced autonomous driving capabilities. This makes it the most advanced Lotus car. The deployable sensors are hidden when not required and do not interfere with the clean design lines. The sensors are deployed from the top of the windscreen, the top of the rear glass, and from the front wheel arches as required. The Eletre also comes with a dynamic walk-up sequence, advanced interface and heads-up display.
