Royal Enfield is turning some pages from the history books. The brand has not introduced a new limited edition variant based on the Classic 500 and this is called the Classic 500 Pegasus Edition. Only 1,000 copies of this motorcycle will be sold worldwide and only 250 of these are to be sold in India. So, quite an exclusive limited edition variant this would be.
Paying homage to the Royal Enfield RE / WD 125 used during the World War II by British paratroopers, this motorcycle was unveiled in an iconic affair at an event on international soil, not in India. The bike eventually rolled out from an aircraft. The old RE 125 was dubbed as the ‘Flying Flea’ back in the day because these bikes were air-dropped in battlefields.
Expect bookings to open soon, and this Classic 500 Pegasus Edition to cost close to INR 2 lakh.
This limited edition variant sports Pegasus logo, canvas pannier bags, leather straps with brass clips, new tank badge, blacked out exhaust + engine + rims + headlamp bezel + handlebar, and is available in olive green or service brown paint options. For India, only the brown paint option will be available as the military-like green shade is not for use on civilian vehicles.
Do give the bikes a unique identity, each of this limited edition will have a unique number stencilled on the fuel tank.
The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition will be powered by the same 499cc, single-cylinder motor producing 27.6 HP of power and 41.3 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed gearbox.
