For the first time in India, KTM has introduced a special GP edition of its popular supersport models, the RC 200 and RC 390. The new editions from India’s fastest-growing premium motorcycle brand draw inspiration from KTM’s MotoGP racing bike – the KTM RC 16.
In a short span of 5 years, KTM Factory Racing has made an unforgettable mark on the MotoGP landscape. With 6 wins and 8 podiums, the KTM Factory Racing, with its RC 16 race bike, has become a force to reckon with. KTM’s supersport models, the RC range, draw inspiration from this and aims to bring ‘racetrack DNA to the street’.
The RC range recently underwent a major transformation. The supersport bike got an all-new chassis, better ergonomics, class-leading performance and GP-inspired electronics. With the new special GP edition, the RC 200 GP gets a unique and striking look that matches its track performance.
KTM RC 200 GP – Pricing & Availability
One of the highlights of the GP editions is the price remains unchanged. Thus, customers can opt for the sportier MotoGP-inspired edition without breaking the bank. The RC 200 GP comes with a sticker price of INR 2,14,688 ex-showroom.
KTM India also mentioned bookings for the new GP edition commence across all KTM showrooms in India from today onwards. Furthermore, customers can also opt for the standard non-GP editions of the RC 200. Thus, giving more options to the customers.
KTM RC 200 GP – Highlights
The 2022 KTM RC 200 comes with a host of improvements over its predecessor. First up, it gets an all-new design that draws inspiration from the KTM RC 16 MotoGP race bike. The RC 200 sports a wider front fascia with LED headlights and LED DRLs, as well as a taller windscreen. KTM also tweaked the ergonomics to make it sportier as well as more comfortable for road use. There are a host of new features as well. These include an LCD instrument cluster, a larger 13.7-litre fuel tank, new wheels with a stiff hollow front axle as well a new seat design.
Mechanically, the new RC 200 GP remains identical to the standard version. Thus, it uses the same 200cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. The engine is BS6-compliant and makes 25 PS of peak power and 19.2 Nm of torque. Combined with its 160 kg kerb weight, it offers a power-to-weight ratio of 156 PS per tonne. The engine is matched to a 6-speed gearbox, while the new curved radiator improves thermal efficiency.
The RC 200 GP gets 43 mm WP APEX upside-down forks at the front and a WP APEX rear monoshock. The braking setup comprises a large 320 mm disc at the front with a 4-piston calliper. Meanwhile, the rear uses a 230 mm disc with a single-piston floating calliper. Dual-Channel ABS comes standard. Additionally, it also features a Supermoto ABS mode.
