One of the leading electric vehicle manufacturers, Komaki, has introduced lithium-ion ferro phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries in India. This shows the brand’s focus on making clean and green transportation safer. Komaki claims the new LiFePO4 batteries are more fire-resistant than before.
With the launch of the new battery, Komaki customers will now also get app-based service which will provide real-time data. Furthermore, Komaki says the LiFePO4 batteries will be available across its product portfolio starting from next month onwards.
Komaki designed the LiFePO4 batteries to enhance the safety of electric 2-wheelers as the primary focus. LiFePO4 has cells which contain iron, thus making them safer and secure from fire even in extreme cases. In addition, Komaki has also reduced the number of cells by one-third. This helps in less cumulative heat generation inside the battery pack. Compared to NMC batteries’ 800 life cycles, the LiFePO4 batteries have a life cycle of between 2,500 to 3,000. Komaki also developed and added an active balancing mechanism which actively balances the battery cells every few seconds.
In addition to the app-based service, Kmaki changed the BMS to an advanced communication-based protocol. This ensures it will read and update the battery status every second. The company claims that with the new LiFePO4 battery pack, the Komaki Venice can go more than 300 km on a single charge. At the same time, the Komaki SE and TN95 with the new LiFePO4 battery pack will offer a range of 180 km.
In just 4 years, the brand has established a strong dealership network of over 350 showrooms. Komaki also claims it has the widest range of electric 2-wheelers. In total, there are 15 different models to choose from. These include 9 low-speed models and 6 high-speed models.
