Korean automotive giant Kia offers its first and most successful SUV, the Seltos, in India with two powertrain options. Currently, Kia India pairs the diesel-powered engine of the Seltos with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. However, according to recent reports, Kia plans to introduce an iMT transmission for its diesel-powered Seltos in 2022. Kia may introduce the Diesel iMT similarly to the Petrol iMT found on the current HTK+ trim of the Seltos.
Kia Seltos – Diesel iMT Variant
The iMT transmission or Intelligent Manual Transmission is essentially a manual gearbox with an automated clutch. This type of gearbox enhances convenience as drivers do not need to use the clutch while driving the car. Based on speculations, Kia will pair the iMT transmission to the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-diesel engine of the Seltos. Kia currently pairs the iMT transmission on the 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated, four-cylinder petrol engine of the Seltos.
