Kia has revealed the all-new EV6 100% electric car and announced that the online bookings for the EV6 are now open. The Kia EV6 is available in three trims – Standard, EV6 GT Line and EV6 GT. Underpinning the Kia EV6 is the dedicated E-GMP platform and offers long-range as well as ultra-fast charging.

Powertrain

The Kia EV6 comes with multiple fully-electric configurations – a standard-range 58.0 kWh high-voltage battery pack as well as a long-range 77.4 kWh. The EV6 is also available in two-wheel (2WD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) options as well. The 2WD 77.4 kWh model is capable of returning a range of 510 km on a single charge. The 2WD comes with a 168 kW (229ps) electric motor that powers the rear wheels and the AWD model comes with a 239 kW (325 ps) electric motor powering all the wheels. The smaller battery pack which is the 58.0 kWh standard battery also features a maximum 605 Nm torque available on the AWD version. On the 2WD model a 125 kW electric motor powers the rear wheels and for AWD models a 173 kW electric motor powers both the front and rear wheels.

Ultra-Fast Charging

The Kia EV6 comes with an 800-Volt and 400-Volt electric architecture and has the capability of high-speed charging that takes just 18 minutes to go from 10% to 80% state of charge. A top-up charge of 4 and half minutes also adds 100 km of range to the electric vehicle. The new charging system is more flexible than the previous generation electric vehicles and comes with Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). This system also supports V2L (vehicle to load) which enables electricity to be drawn from the vehicle to the house and has the capability to run a medium-size air-conditioner and a 55-inch LED TV for 24 hours.

Design & Styling

The Kia EV6 features new design philosophy ‘Opposites United’ that claims to draw inspiration from nature and humanity. The EV6 features a new digital approach to the design language such as the new ‘Digital Tiger Face’, sleek segmented LED DRLs with a ‘sequential’ dynamic light pattern. A wide lower air intake that gives the car a low squat look, crossover-inspired silhouette along with a fastback and hatchback inspired rear section, a sloping C-pillar with an integrated black glossy insert, a wing-type roof spoiler and a segmented LED rear light cluster that wrap the haunch.

Interiors & Features

The Kia EV6 features a 2900mm long wheelbase enabling a roomier cabin which is similar to many mid-size SUVs. The pièce de résistance in the cabin is the curved 12-inch dual screen panoramic display extending from the steering wheel to the centre of the car. The single-pane display shows the driver’s instrument in front of the driver and infotainment functions on the other side. The EV6 also features an augmented reality (AR) head-up display system with an Advanced Driver Assistance System and other function in the line of sight. The Kia EV6 also features a connected car system, ‘Kia Connect’, which was previously known as UVO.
