Kia India sales cross 5 lakh unit milestone, Carens is a HIT

Success story again for Kia India. The carmaker has now set yet another benchmark in the country by surpassing the 5,00,000 domestic sales milestone. And this has come in a short period of just three years. With this, Kia becomes the fastest car maker in India to achieve this feat. In the export markets, too, Kia has dispatched 6,34,224 units from its Anantapur manufacturing facility. As per the carmaker, the recent spike in sales volume is due to the introduction of Carens. The MPV has helped Kia to secure its last 1 lakh sales in just 4.5 months. With the growing number of sales, Kia India now contributes more than 6 per cent to the global sales of Kia Corporation.

Top Seller – Seltos SUV

With the strong demand for SUVs in the market, Kia India’s strong SUV portfolio is benefitting the most. The carmaker has an offering in each of India’s hot-selling segments. This includes sub-four metre compact SUVs, mid-size SUVs and three-row MPVs. Seltos being the first introduction of the carmaker, is the carmaker’s most sold title. The mid-size SUV adds 59 per cent to Kia India’s total tally, followed by the Sonet with more than 32 per cent. The recently introduced Carens has also received a very positive response from the market. In just 5 months of its launch, Carens has contributed close to 6.5 per cent to the company’s domestic sales.

In their respective segments, all the products share a respectable market share. The Seltos continues its stronghold in the mid-size SUV segment, which has been a very popular segment in the last few years. The SUV contributes more than 40 per cent to the sales of vehicles in its segment. Meanwhile, Sonet continues its healthy run in the sub-four-metre SUV segment with a 15 per cent share. Carens, whose sales are rising fast, contributed more than 18 per cent to its segment. Lastly, not to forget Carnival, which has its own niche customer base, is selling almost 400 vehicles on average every month.
