Jeep Meridian SUV spotted testing on Indian streets

Written by Nizam Shaikh

Jeep is planning to introduce the new Meridian three-row SUV in the Indian market. The brand is currently running evaluation testing in the Indian market, evident from the spy shots. The camouflage test mule appears to be in the production-ready state, which leads us to believe that the brand could be planning to launch the car in the coming weeks.

Jeep Meridian – Spied in India

The Jeep Meridian is likely to draw its design inspiration from the Jeep Grand Cherokee L. The brand has already revealed the Jeep Meridian in the South American market, and the brand is likely to use similar exterior features as the international spec model. The spy shots from India reveal LED headlamps and sleek LED DRLs. The Jeep Meridian also appears to come with the signature 7-slat front grille accented with chrome. The international-spec model also comes with a chrome accent on the front bumper and a satin-chrome bumper lip.

The front bumper also comes with aggressive intakes. The rear bumper also features a satin silver skid plate, which appears to be completely camouflaged on the test mule. The Meridian also comes with wraparound taillamps with segment LEDs and a chrome band connecting the two. The SUV also comes with a progressive roofline with roof rails and a spoiler at the rear. The Jeep Meridian is also likely to come with multi-spoke alloy wheels and squared-off wheel arches.

Jeep Meridian – Interiors and Features

The Jeep Meridian is likely to come with interiors borrowed from the updated Jeep Compass. The SUV is likely to come with a floating touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instruments cluster. The Jeep Meridian will likely come with 7-seats, automatic climate control and internet-connected features.

Jeep Meridian – Powertrain Speculations

Reports suggest that the Jeep Meridian will come with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine with a 48-volt mild-hybrid electric system. The engine is likely to come with a 9-speed automatic transmission with a four-wheel-drive system.
