Jeep India has announced that its flagship SUV, the Grand Cherokee, will make its debut in November 2022. It will soon join the ranks of the Compass, Meridian, and Wrangler, making Cherokee the 4th Jeep-branded vehicle to be made in India. India is the only country outside of North America where four nameplates are made.
The new Grand Cherokee will be equipped with a full suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and a complete connectivity package with 24×7 assistance.
Jeep India however has a long way to go in terms of customer acquisition. The American carmaker has been manufacturing cars in India since a while now, and some of those are also being exported as well. India is infact the only county in the world that makes right hand drive Jeep vehicles.
Design of the Grand Cherokee
The overall design of the car is very similar to the Meridian SUV currently on sale in India. It gets a typical 7-slat Jeep logo and slim headlamps with integrated DRL lights and indicators. At the rear, the car gets slim LED tail lights.
On the inside, the Grand Cherokee comes equipped with a 10.1-inch touchscreen media system along with a digital instrument cluster. Customers can also configure their vehicles with a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a rear-seat entertainment package.
Engines of the Jeep Grand Cherokee
Other details are not yet known, but it is possible that Jeep could offer one or more of the following engines – a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 petrol, a 5.7-litre V8, a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder or a turbo-petrol plug-in hybrid.
Safety Features of the Grand Cherokee
The Grand Cherokee comes with a host of safety features. These include collision warning, adaptive cruise control, active lane management, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, brake assist, blind-spot monitor, night vision camera, intersection collision assist, rear cross-path detection, and drowsiness detection.
