The ‘Trail-Rated’ SUV from the American car maker Jeep has been launched at INR 26.8 lakh ex-showroom, Pan India. Jeep had earlier announced that all the 82 FCA dealerships have started to accept bookings for the Jeep Compass Trailhawk in India, at the price of INR 50,000. The Jeep Compass Trailhawk has been priced at INR 3.7 lakh premium than the earlier top-spec variant, the Jeep Compass Limited Plus 4×4 2.0-diesel which is due to the BSVI compliant, 2.0-litre diesel engine with a 9-speed automatic gearbox and superior off-road capabilities.
The Jeep Compass Trailhawk has earned its ‘Trail-Rated’ badge as the SUV features Jeep’s Active Drive Low 4×4 system which offers low range gears, hill-descent control, and a Selec-Terrain system which gets modes like – Auto-Snow-Sand-Mud-Rock.
In the engine department, the SUV is powered by a BSVI compliant, 2.0-litre Multijet II, four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine that produces 170 HP of power and 350 Nm of torque coupled to a 9-speed automatic torque converter gearbox. The Trailhawk has become the first in the line of the Compass portfolio to get a diesel automatic drivetrain. All the other Jeep Compass diesel models get a 6-speed manual transmission.
The Trailhawk also gets a high ground clearance, 30mm higher than standard SUV which gives it a better water wading ability than the standard model. The SUV also has a better approach, break-over and departure angles.
On the interiors, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk features Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, Automatic climate control AC, cruise control, keyless entry, leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather upholstered seats with Ruby Red stitching, push-button start, a 7-inch graphic, driver information display, etc.
In terms of safety, the SUV features 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, traction control, hill hold control, all 4-disc brakes, electronic roll-over mitigation, auto headlamps and wipers, cornering lamps, electronic parking brake, reverse parking sensors with camera, all row full-length side curtain airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchorage system, etc.
