The 24 Hours of Le Mans will take place from 8th June to 12th June 2022. During the event, Jaguar will display its 1988 Le-Mans winner, the XJR-9. To commemorate the company’s win in one of the most demanding motorsports, Jaguar will bring in another special guest. Jaguar has designed and built the F-Type SVR Edition 1988 to celebrate its win from 34 years ago.
The performance SUV draws inspiration from Jaguar’s racing success. Jaguar will produce just 394 units of the F-Pace SVR Edition 1988. The 394 number signifies the number of laps the XJR-9 completed in the winning race in 1988. Pricing for the model starts at USD 110,000 in the US. Furthermore, the company says the limited-edition model is now available to order across all Jaguar dealers worldwide.
Jaguar F-Pace SVR Edition 1988 – Highlights
The main exterior highlight is the Midnight Amethys Gloss colourway. The exterior colour option is exclusive to the Edition 1988 and draws inspiration from the race-winning XJR-9. Another exterior highlight is the set of 22-inch forged wheels in a Champagne Gold Satin finish. However, all the emblems on the outside get a slightly different Sunset Gold Satin finish. Apart from the exterior colour, the limited edition also gets laser-etched Edition 1988 logos on the front fenders. At the same time, the rear view mirrors, wheel centre caps, and brake callipers get a contrasting Gloss Black finish. The ‘R’ in the SVR badging also gets this Gloss Black finish.
On the inside, the Sunset Gold Satin finish is more visible than the exterior. Jaguar uses this finish for the steering wheel, paddle shifters, seats and the dashboard. The Edition 1988 gets an ebony leather upholstery for the seats, dashboard, steering wheel and gear shifter. There are also splashes of naked carbon fibre across the cabin. All these subtle tweaks come from Jaguar’s SV Bespoke division.
Jaguar F-Pace SVR Edition 1988 – Powertrain
Jaguar has not made any changes to the mechanicals of the limited edition. Hence, it continues to use the same 5.0-litre V8. The engine also gets a supercharger and produces 550 HP and 700 Nm of torque. Compared to the 2021 model year of the F-Pace SVR, the torque is up by 20 Nm. The performance SUV sends power to all four wheels using an 8-speed torque converter automatic. Using all the traction from the AWD, power and torque, the F-Pace SVR goes from 0 to 96 kmph in 3.8 seconds. At the same time, the performance SUV’s top speed is 286 kmph.
