2022 Citroen C3 for India, details revealed

Written by Rohit Tonapi

Citroen is all set to launch its second product, the C3, in India in July. Now, ahead of its launch, Citroen has revealed the engine and variant details of the C3. The C3 will use Citroen’s CMP platform and features typical Citroen styling. After its launch, some of the cars the C3 will compete with are Tata Punch, Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.

2022 Citroen C3 – Powertrain

We knew that the C3 would come with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine. However, according to the new details, there will also be a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated engine on offer. The output for the naturally-aspirated motor is 82 HP. At the same time, the turbocharged petrol motor will produce 110 HP. At launch, both engine options will be available with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Additionally, Citroen could offer a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox at a later stage.

The 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated engine’s power figures will be on par with its primary rivals, the Tata Punch and Maruti Suzuki Ignis. For comparison, the Ignis produces 83 HP. Meanwhile, the Punch produces 86 HP. The Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Tata Punch are only available with a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated engine. Interestingly, with its 1.2-litre turbo-petrol, the C3 will be more powerful than some compact SUVs. These include the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger. For reference, the Renault Kiger and Magnite both make 100 HP.

2022 Citroen C3 – Variant Details

The India-spec Citroen C3 will be available with two variants – Live and Feel. The Live and Feel variants will be available with 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated engine. Additionally, only the Feel variant will be available with the more powerful 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. Earlier, Citroen announced that there would be high levels of customization available. Hence, the C3 will also come with additional exterior and interior packages. These packages will be available as optional extras.

2022 Citroen C3 – Dimensions

The Citroen C3 measures 3,981 mm in length, 1,733mm in width and 1,586mm in height. The exterior dimensions also make it a larger car than the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Tata Punch. For reference, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis measures 3,700mm in length, 1,690mm in height and 1,595mm in height. At the same time, the Tata Punch measures 3,827mm in length. However, the Tata Punch, with a 1,742mm in width and 1,615mm in height, is wider and taller than the C3. The wheelbase of the Citroen C3 is 2,540mm. The wheelbase is, in fact, even longer than some compact SUVs.

2022 Citroen C3 – Launch & Price

If Citroen prices the C3 aggressively, we expect it to be in the same range as the Ignis and the Punch. In addition to this, the C3 will even compare with lower variants of some compact SUVs. These include the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Nexon, Kiger and Magnite. We might get to know the prices closer to the model’s launch.
