Looks like Bajaj is planning to introduce a new motorcycle in the commuter category. According to the spy images, the bike could be one of the upcoming CT range of bikes. While the test mule was covered in camouflage, the bike has certain key features which reveals its identity as a Bajaj CT derivative.
The test mule was equipped with familiar CT elements like the round headlamp, wide handlebar and more. Overall, it is apparent that the new bike bears resemblance to the CT125X.
Other deign elements like handguards, are not usually available on commuter-segment bikes but Bajaj has offered them before. The bike also gets a sump guard and a braced handlebar. Bajaj might be looking at differentiating the CT150X from other commuter bikes by such a design choice.
All in all, this points out the fact that Bajaj might be considering a new CT model to improve its footing in the highly competitive commuter segment.
Bajaj is also looking to fill the void in the 150cc segment. Currently, the Indian bike maker has only two 150cc offerings – i.e – the N150 and the Pulsar 150. While the N150 replaces the pulsar P150, the Pulsar 150 has been around for a while now.
Hence, there could be a chance that Bajaj is looking to add one more 150cc bike in its portfolio.
In terms of design, the CT125X gets a round halogen headlamp with LED DRLs which gives off an off-road vibe. It also gets a headlight guard, a rear luggage rack and engine protection. The seat gets a quilted design with a large grab rail along with a luggage rack. For convenience, a USB charger has also been provided.
The engine is the same motor which has been in use in the Bajaj Discover 125, and it is a 124.4cc, single-cylinder air-cooled engine with 10.9 PS at 8,000 rpm and 11 Nm at 5,500 rpm. The engine is paired with an all-down pattern 5-speed gearbox. Instead of a conventional fuel-injection system, the CT125X gets an Intelligent Carburetor. This is usually offered at a higher price point. The CT125X gets basic telescopic forks at the front and dual rear gas shocks. The rear wheel gets a drum brake, while the front gets a choice of disk or drum brake.
