Kia India is getting ready for the launch of its all-electric EV6 in India. The company announced it will launch the EV6 in India before the end of 2022. The all-electric EV6 has also been spotted earlier on Indian roads. The model seen was the EV6 GT. With the launch nearing, we know more details about the India-spec version thanks to a leaked official brochure.
India-Spec Kia EV6 – Technical Specifications
The official brochure confirms that we will get the 77.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The battery pack also supports ultra-fast charging. Using a 50 kW fast charger, the EV6 tops up from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in 73 minutes, while using a 350 kW fast charger, it only takes 18 minutes. The ultra-fast charging also adds 100 km of range in just 4.5 minutes, which adds to the convenience. The maximum range the 77.4 kWh battery pack offers according to the WLTP cycle is 528 km. However, there is still no confirmation if we will also get the 58 kWh battery option.
The Kia EV6 could come to India with single or dual-motor variants. The single motor variant, which has RWD, makes 229 PS and 350 Nm of torque. Whereas, the dual-motor AWD variant makes 325 PS and 605 Nm of torque. The brochure states the car can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 3.5 seconds. However, the fine print says it is for the GT version, which makes 585 PS.
India-Spec Kia EV6 – Top Features
The top-spec GT-Line AWD variant will get plenty when it comes to features. These include an AR heads-up display, automatic flush-fitting door handles and also a powered tailgate. The EV6 also gets a 14-speaker Meridian sound system. The front seats are powered and get 10-way adjustability. The dashboard of the car has dual 12.3-inch screens. Other features include dual-zone climate control, multi-drive modes, paddle shifters to adjust regeneration levels, rain-sensing wipers and also a wireless smartphone charger.
India-Spec Kia EV6 – Safety Features
The India-spec Kia EV6 will get a host of safety features. These include 8 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), VSM, Hill-Start Assist Control, Multi-Collision Brake Assist, and all-wheel disc brakes with ABS and Brake Assist. Additionally, the car also gets a complete suite of ADAS features, including Lane Keep Assist, Safe Exit Assist, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, and many more. The EV6 will also get a Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go functionality.
