Hyundai & Tata Power to enhance EV-charging Infrastructure

Written by AnantaSaranNayak

Hyundai Motors India Limited has announced its strategic partnership with Tata Power. This is very positive news for the EV segment in the country. Tata Power is one of India’s largest integrated power companies and also a leading EV charging infrastructure provider. Its collaboration with Hyundai, 2nd largest carmaker in the country, has a lot of weight. The partnership could also prove as the start of something big in the EV Charging infrastructure, given the volume of business both the companies carry.

Long Term Aim For Hyundai And Tata Power

Through this association, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. will become a key contributor to expanding quality charging infrastructure. HMIL currently has an existing network of 34 EV Dealers in 29 cities, equipped with AC 7.2 kW chargers. The aim is to expand this network to more locations and dealerships in the coming days. Hyundai will focus more on the setting up of a DC 60 kW charger. The vehicle charging time of the DC 60 kW charger is much lesser than the AC 7.2 kW charger, thus adding to the customer convenience.

Tata Power and HMIL will work out a way to set up public EV charging stations at Hyundai Dealership locations and end-to-end charging solutions at home. The move will ensure hassle-free EV ownership for the customers. Hyundai also confirmed that the charging stations at Hyundai Dealerships will be open for all-electric vehicle customers. Customers need to access them through Hyundai and Tata Power EZ Charge Mobile App.

Hyundai will take care of the space and necessary administrative approvals, while Tata Power will operate and maintain the charging stations. These charging stations will allow easy access to charging stations through Hyundai and Tata Power EZ Charge Mobile App. Customers can then navigate, locate, make payments, and access the live status of the charging. Furthermore, customers can also pre-book slots for the charging stations for a hassle-free and smooth vehicle charging experience.
