Hyundai Motors India Limited releases its sales report for August 2021. The country’s second-largest carmaker in terms of sales volume registered cumulative domestic sales of 46,866 units. The figure for August 2020 was 45,809 units, hence resulting in a growth of 2.3 per cent. The carmaker exported 12,202 units for August 2021, up from 6,800 units of August 2020, thus translating to a growth of 79.4 per cent. All together, HMIL sold a total of 59,068 units (domestic + exports) against 52,609 units for the same period last year. Thus, resulting in a growth rate of 12.3 per cent.
Being India’s one of the popular and top-selling carmakers, HMIL does offer its customers a wide range of choices. Currently, HMIL has 11 products across various segments under its stable. This includes Santro, Grand i10 Nios, All-new i20, Aura, Venue, New Verna, All-New Creta, Alcazar, Elantra, New 2020 Tucson and Kona Electric. Of all the products, Creta and Venue are currently the top-selling vehicles of HMIL. Both the SUVs made it to the top-10 cars sold in August 2021. Creta sold a total number of 12,597 units, whereas the Venue sold a total of 8,377 units in August 2021.
To support a high volume of vehicles and customers, it is crucial to have a large dealership and service network. HMIL currently has over 533 dealers and 1,323 service points all across the country, with many more getting added as we write this. Along with Kia India, Hyundai will take on the Indian automobile market more aggressively, thus giving a tough fight to the current market leader, Maruti Suzuki.
Since Hyundai came to India, it has been the largest exporter of cars. This makes HMIL a critical part of Hyundai Motor Corporation’s (HMC) global export hub. As of today, HMIL exports to about 88 countries. And these are spread across Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, Australia, and the Asia Pacific.
