Hyundai reveals first teaser of AX1 micro-SUV

Hyundai has been testing its latest micro-SUV codenamed AX1 in the international market. Now the brand has officially teased the micro-SUV leading us to believe that Hyundai will introduce the car soon.

Hyundai AX1 Teaser

According to the teaser images, the Hyundai AX1 will come with rounded headlamps with peripheral LED daytime running lights and triangular patterned LED taillamps. The headlamp could be well integrated with the radiator grille which also appears to have a triangular pattern. This pattern is similar to the pattern on the tail lamps. The main beams appear to be of the multi-faceted reflector type and the micro-SUV could come with a halogen headlamp setup. The DRL though appears to be an LED unit that encompasses the main beams.

The headlamps appear to sit mid bumper with a set of indicators on the top. The theme somewhat resembles the Venue compact SUV. The bonnet could be a clamshell-style unit giving the micro-SUV its SUV-like character. While details on the tail are less visible except for the intricate LED segments that remind me of citrus fruits. The LED taillamps could have an integrated combination for the turn signal and reverse lamps.

Hyundai AX1 Spyshots

The details from the teaser image also appear on spy shots from the home country where the company is testing the car. The spy shots reveal the same pattern in the taillamps and a rounded headlamp setup. It also reveals a large greenhouse and an upright stance of the vehicle. The micro SUV also gets roof rails as well as a shark fin antenna, alloy wheels, twin-pipe exhausts etc. The front windscreen also appears to have multiple sensors attached to it. This leads us to believe that the car could get features such as forward collision warning, rain sensors, automatic headlamps etc.

Will the Hyundai AX1 come to India?

While Hyundai has not revealed its plans yet, the brand could be planning to bring the AX1 to the Indian market shortly after its global debut. If the micro SUV is launched in India, it will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Mahindra KUV100 NXT and the upcoming Tata HBX.
