The new-gen hybrid powertrain by Hyundai will feature a redesigned gearbox system. As per the revealed details, the new transmission has two gears: P1 and P2. These gears will be combined to handle the ignition, power transmission, battery regeneration, and regenerative braking.

Additionally, the new hybrid powertrain will feature on a range of models with power ranging from 100-300 bhp. The evolved hybrid tech will not only deliver more power and comfort, but it will also feature the V-2-L (vehicle-to-load) system from the e-GMP platform.

Hyundai Hybrid Engine

This new hybrid powertrain has already made its debut with the 2026 Hyundai Palisade, which was recently launched in the US. It is suspended over a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol motor, which is mated to the new transmission.

This new engine generates 329.5 bhp and 460 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. Moreover, the efficient hybrid motor helps in achieving 2.9% more fuel economy than the previous version. The claimed efficiency figure for this motor is 14.1 km/l.

Hyundai will also introduce the new hybrid tech on a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol motor, which is likely to feature on the new-gen Kia and Genesis cars. This engine will provide 4% better fuel economy and 13 Nm more torque than the current iteration.
