Honda Cars India has announced a price hike for the City Hybrid e:HEV, making the sedan INR 30,000 more expensive than before. The increase applies to the ZX variant, which is now priced at INR 20.85 lakh (ex-showroom).
Price revision and variant update
The City Hybrid e:HEV was previously available in two trims—V and ZX. However, Honda discontinued the mid-spec V variant last year, leaving only the top-spec ZX trim in the lineup.
Despite the price hike, the City Hybrid remains one of the most fuel-efficient sedans in India, offering an ARAI-certified mileage of 27.1 km/l.
Powertrain and features
The City Hybrid e:HEV is powered by a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with two electric motors. The combined output stands at 124 bhp and 253 Nm, delivered through an e-CVT gearbox.
Honda continues to offer ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), including:
- Lane Keep Assist
- Collision Mitigation Braking System
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Road Departure Mitigation
- Auto High Beam
Additional safety features include TPMS, Vehicle Stability Assist, Agile Handling Assist, and Hill Start Assist.
Market position and rivals
The City Hybrid e:HEV competes with Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia, and Volkswagen Virtus. However, none of these rivals offer hybrid technology, making the City Hybrid a unique offering in the segment.
Expected impact of the price hike
Since its 2022 launch, the City Hybrid’s price has increased by ₹1.35 lakh, reflecting rising production costs and inflation. Despite the hike, Honda expects the sedan to remain popular among buyers seeking fuel efficiency and premium features.
