The Hyundai IONIQ 5 just made its debut stateside. Now the brand plans to introduce the IONIQ 6 and IONIQ 7 in the USA as well. The brand has a timeline according to which the Ioniq 6 will arrive in 2022. The Ioniq 7 will follow the Ioniq 6 and make its debut in 2024. Hyundai earlier revealed that the Ioniq 6 would be a mid-size electric sedan based on the Prophecy concept. Meanwhile, the Ioniq 7 will be a full-size electric SUV with dimensions similar to the Hyundai Palisade.
The Hyundai Ioniq 6 will be based on the Prophecy concept, which draws inspiration from the ’45’ concept. Reports suggest that the Ioniq 6 will be roughly the size of the Hyundai Sonata and arrive in late 2022. Hyundai’s E-GMP platform will underpin the IONIQ 6 and come with two different powertrain options. Sources also suggest that the Ioniq 6 will come with a 73 kWh battery pack. The single motor power unit is likely to develop around 218 PS of power. The second dual motor concept will come with a 313 PS power combined output. The targeted range on the Ioniq 6 is also likely to be around 483 km on a single charge.
The Hyundai Ioniq 7 will be a full-size SUV and is likely to come with a 7-seater option. The three-row SUV appears to focus on the family audience and will be roughly the size of the Hyundai Palisade SUV. The SUV could also come with a premium 6-seating option. Again, the Hyundai E-GMP platform will come into play and offer an all-wheel-drive option on the SUV as standard. Reports suggest that the Ioniq 7 will come with a 313 PS dual-motor powertrain but a larger 100 kWh battery pack that targets a range of around 483 km on a single charge.
Both electric vehicles will also come with a Vehicle-to-Load function and come with ultra-fast 400 V and 800 V multi-charging similar to the IONIQ 5. The brand also has high hopes from the Ioniq 7 in the US market looking at the trend shift towards SUVs.
