Honda reveals new CL300 scrambler motorcycle

Written by Kanad Kalasur

Honda has unveiled a new scrambler motorcycle. The honda CL300 scrambler has just been showcased in China. The bike is targeted towards those customers who want to ride the bike more off the road, than on the road.

More details on the Honda CL300

The CL300 is a pretty decent off-road machine. Based on the iconic Rebel 300, a cruiser platform, the Japanese bike maker has significantly reworked to get CL300 off-road ready. The kit on the bike includes large 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, a new subframe that gives the bike a taller stance, a rugged fuel tank and a single-piece long scrambler seat. Honda has borrowed the high-mounted exhaust for the bike from the larger CL500.

The Honda CL300 can be selected from a choice of two variants – the standard and the premium. The premium comes with a headlight cowl, raised front mudguard, side number plate and hand guards.

Powertrain of the Honda CL300

The Honda CL300’s engine develops about 25.7 BHP of peak power. The top speed of the bike is around 125 km/h and the bike gets a six-speed gearbox. That said, it is not yet known if the bike gets revised gear ratios to tackle the off-road bits in a much better manner.

Price and Launch of the Honda CL300

Currently a China-specific model, we think that the Honda CL300 has the potential to sell well in India. However, even the Rebel is not sold here in India, which makes it highly improbable for the CL300 to make its way to our shores.

In terms of pricing, the company has not yet announced the prices, but in China, the bike could be priced decently.

In other news, Honda is offering an exciting year-end discount on its CB300F motorcycle. Honda Big Wing dealerships are offering the CB300F with a price reduction of INR 50,000 in a bid to boost sales. With this price tag, the CB300F now undercuts its chief rival, KTM 125 Duke.
