Honda reveals CRF300LS & XR150L dirt bikes

Written by Kanad Kalasur

Honda has revealed not one but two new motorcycles for the US market. These include the CRF300LS and the XR150L. Before we get our hopes too high, these dirt bikes are unlikely to be launched anywhere else.

What’s new in the Honda CRF300LS?

These new dirt bikes have been designed to cater for the needs of shorter riders. While the Japanese bike maker already sells the CRF300L in the USA, the bike has a pretty tall seat height. Hence to cater to a wider audience, Honda decided to bring in the CRF300LS. The bike now comes with 43mm upside-down front forks and a Pro-Link at the rear. Honda has also reduced the suspension travel on these shockers significantly.

Due to this, the rake angle has now been changed, resulting in a change in the ground clearance as well. But, all this has led to a shorter seat height, which is much lower than the standard bike.

Coming to the performance of the bike, Honda has not made any changes here. The bike continues to be powered by a 286 cc liquid-cooled motor.

What’s new in the Honda XR150L?

Till now, the XR150L was mostly sold in the Asian markets. But the Japanese company thinks that there could be a good market for this bike in the USA as well. Hence the 2023 XR150L makes its way to the American shores.

Don’t go by the small displacement 150 cc motor of the XR150L. This engine packs sufficient punch for the bike. Despite not having sheer outright power, the bike is quite well known for its versatility and accessibility. Honda has equipped a 19-inch rim at the front and 17-inchers on the back. Stopping power comes in the form of a 240mm disc brake at the front and a 110mm drum on the rear unit.

Launch potential of these in India

While these bikes could be of great opportunity in India, Honda is unlikely to offer these anytime soon. Honda is currently focused on the volume models that help the bottom line of the firm. That said, one can always hope for the bike maker to surprise us and launch these bikes in India.
