With the need to enhance road safety awareness among the people, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India’s (HMSI) National Road Safety Awareness organised a campaign in Ajmer in Rajasthan. This was a three-day event organised at the Sophia Girls’ College (Autonomous), Ajmer. The event saw spirited participation from over 2,800 girls and staff members who learned about safe riding practices. HMSI’s road safety instructors also leveraged age-appropriate road safety learning programs to enhance the retention of road safety awareness.
Road safety education is of paramount importance for a country like India. Given the number of fatalities and the rising number of vehicles on the road, road safety education plays a crucial part. Honda has been a key player in this aspect. The brand also continues to commit itself to building a safer India on roads. With this campaign, Honda aims to cultivate the right road safety habits amongst citizens across varied demographics. The new and upcoming riders will benefit greatly from these events, and at the same time, adults will also realise the importance of using the roads safely.
Honda’s National Road Safety Awareness Program’s Key Events
Honda’s skilled instructors set the foundation stone with theory sessions. Topics included road signs & markings, riding gear, driver’s duties on the road, posture explanation and also safe riding etiquette. There was also a special training activity on Honda’s virtual riding simulator. With this, a rider could experience over 100 possible dangers on the road before actual riding.
Participants also got a danger prediction training known as Kiken Yosoku Training (KYT). This helps in enhancing the rider’s sensitivity to the upcoming danger and ensures safe driving action on roads. Students and school staff members who are currently legal riders tested and honed their riding skills through slow riding activities. To ensure maximum participation of the young students, the brand also conducted fun educational activities like road safety games and quizzes on a daily basis.
