Force Gurkha price hiked, Thar dominates the segment

Written by AnantaSaranNayak

Force Gurkha prices are now starting from INR 14.49 lakh, which is INR 39,000 more than the previously listed price. The brand competes with the much-popular Mahindra Thar SUV in the Indian market. However, the Gurkha now costs more than the top-spec trim of the Mahindra Thar diesel-manual.

Available only in one trim, the all-new Gurkha had made an immediate impact in the market. The updated SUV first launched in the Indian market back in September 2021 at an ex-showroom price of INR 13.59 lakh. And then, in January 2022, the company hiked the price by INR 51,000 and bumped up the price to INR 14.10 lakh (ex-showroom). Now, within just three months, Force Motors has decided to hike the price of its flagship SUV.

What Is The Gurkha All About?

Inspired by the G-Wagon, the exterior outlook of the Gurkha resembles the German off-roader. Powering the Gurkha is a 2.6-litre turbo-diesel unit that makes 91 HP and 250 Nm. Customers looking for an automatic option will be disappointed because Force Motors only offers a manual gearbox option with the Gurkha. Being a proper SUV, Gurkha gets all the necessary kit. This includes a four-wheel drive with low range and manual locking front and rear differentials. Furthermore, Gurkha can also drive up to a slope of 35 degrees. With the equipped snorkel, Gurkha also has the capability to traverse through water bodies up to a depth of 700mm.

Five-Door Gurkha In Making?

As it stands, we understand that Force Motors is currently working on a five-door version of the Gurkha. There have been enough spy shots of the model undergoing testing to prove that same. This would be a more practical option for the customer, and it will come in both 6-seater and 7-seater versions. We do not exert any mechanical changes in the five-door version, and hence the same powertrain as the current iteration. As per reports, this five-door version will arrive sometime around Diwali.
