Ferrari has revealed the SP48 Unica, a two-seater sports berlinetta. The new SP48 Unica is the latest addition to the company’s One-Off series. The model joins the most exclusive group in Ferrari’s entire production. The cars from this series are unique, completely bespoke and crafted to the specifications of a single client. Ferrari has not released any images of the interior of the car. However, glimpses of it on the video show that it does not get too many changes.
Ferrari SP48 Unica – Highlights
The SP48 Unica uses the recently discontinued F8 Tributo as its base. However, the styling is more in line with the F8’s successor, 296 GTB. The front of the car features a sleek nose and headlights that draw inspiration from the Ferrari Roma and 296 GTB. The lower grille on the car is body coloured and similar to the one in the Roma. The front lid gets deep vents to reduce air drawn in through the nose. The car also gets a wraparound windshield and blacked-out A-pillars. Together, they give an impression of a large helmet visor.
The side of the car gets repositioned air intakes which feed air into the radiators. The upper air intake behind the door glass feeds air into the intercoolers. A new, wide sill panel cuts deep into the lower bodywork for a more athletic look than the F8.
The rear of the car features some unique design elements. The SP48 Unica gets or instead does not get a window. That also means there is no way you can have a look at the engine. Additionally, this also means there is nothing one can see through the inside rear-view mirror. When looked at from the top, it visually works, as a central spine flows from the front to the rear. The taillights feature a quad light design which is so slim that they are barely visible. An interesting design element is how the small fixed spoiler and the lower diffuser design mirror the roof’s structure.
Ferrari SP48 Unica – Powertrain
Ferrari doesn’t mention any mechanical upgrades done to the car. Thus, it makes us believe it will use the same engine as the F8 Tributo. To recap, the F8 uses a twin-turbo 3.9-litre V8. The engine produces 720 PS and 770 Nm of torque.
