Electric Kawasaki Z motorcycle revealed at Intermot

Kawasaki has showcased the prototype of its much-awaited electric motorcycle at Intermot 2022 in Cologne, Germany. We had seen this prototype, along with a hybrid model, at the Suzuka 8 Hours endurance race in Japan in August. Kawasaki had previously talked about its plans to roll out 10 electrified models by 2025. This will include both fully electric and hybrid motorcycles. Now as per reports, this prototype will turn into production-version as the first model from Team Green’s electrified range. As we understand the launch for the same will most likely happen in the international markets in 2023.

What’s The Kawaski Z Electric Motorcycle Like?

In terms of design, the prototype looks pretty much based on Kawasaki’s Z range of street naked motorcycles. We see the electric motor mounted in the center and a chain drive system. Meanwhile, Kawasaki has positioned the battery in the underbelly. As for the hardware, the electric bike uses a telescopic fork up front and a mono-shock at the rear. Braking power comes from discs at both ends.

Details We Have So Far

While details about the electric motorcycle are not much scarce. But there are some leaked documents suggesting that the bike could make up to 14.8 HP. This will place it in the 125cc-equivalent territory. However, details such as the battery capacity, range, and charging time remain a secret as of now. Thus we expect more details about the electric motorcycle to come through in due course.

India Launch Plans

As of now, there are no details, if, at all, Kawasaki will launch its electric lineup in India. But, with the demand rising for EVs, Kawasaki’s electric range of motorcycles could find a fair share of takers in India. Kawasaki as a brand is already quite aspirational in the Indian market. Now with the electric touch, Kawasaki’s electric range of motorcycles could become an instant success.
