E20-compliant Skoda Kushaq & Volkswagen Taigun hit the streets

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has participated in the Alternative Fuels Based Vehicles Rally. The rally was flagged off by India’s Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in Bengaluru yesterday.

Purpose of the Rally

The Alternative Fuels Based Vehicles Rally was conducted at the inauguration of India’s G20 Presidency flagship event at the India Energy Week (IEW). This event was organised by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG).

Keeping in mind the changing dynamics of the mobility scene in India, SAVWIPL worked to make the Kushaq and Taigun E20 compliant. As the Government of India’s focus shifts towards exploration of sustainable mobility solutions, carmakers like Skoda and Volkswagen are working towards the advancement of alternative fuels usage in India.

The eventual target of Net Zero Mission by the Indian Government aims to promote low-emission mobility in the automotive sector. All these also align with the company’s ‘goTOzero’ mission. The target of the same being a net carbon-neutral company by the year 2030.

 Other Green Initiative as SAVWIPL

Back in November 2022, the group’s AUrangabad manufacturing facility became the first to run on 100% Green energy. Not just that, the same was achieved ahead of its 2025 target. Further, the Pune plant has over 30% of its energy needs sourced from rooftop solar plants, which is one of the largest rooftop solar plants.

Safety rating of Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun

Not just good for the environment, these SUVs have achieved a ~Global NCAP rating of 5 stars. This makes them amongst the safest made in India cars. The 5-star rating is for both adult and child occupant protection.

SAVWIPL performance in 2022

2022 has been a big year for Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL). Backed by the overwhelming sales performance of its five Group brands and the resounding success of its Made-in-India models. Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) clocked a phenomenal growth with 1,01,270 units sold last year.

The export figure stood at 33,397 units. Sales were up 86 per cent year-on-year when compared to 2021. Continuing with its aggressive product offensive, the Group added 20+ model updates across its five brand – Skoda, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, and Lamborghini.
