Skoda Kushaq & Slavia now with 6 airbags as standard

Written by Nizam Shaikh

Skoda has announced that the brand is now offering 6-airbags as standard on the Kushaq and Slavia cars. The new update further improves the already strong safety credentials that the car brings in. Skoda has been the first brand to score a full
5-stars for adults and children under the Global NCAP tests. The Kushaq and Slavia built on the MQB-A0-IN platform which is the Indian-ised version of the Modular Traverse Matrix (MQB) which underpins a wide range of Volkswagen group cars.

Skoda Kushaq & Slavia – Safety

Skoda had been offering its vehicles with dual frontal airbags as standard across all cars. Also, Skoda’s higher-spec variants also had 6-airbags to enhance safety. Now, the safety technology is available as standard on both the Kushaq and Slavia. The brand has been updating the Kushaq and the Slavia since its launch. The Kushaq starts with the Active variant and has Ambition and Style as higher-spec variants.

Skoda Kushaq & Slavia – Variants

The SUV also comes with Monte Carlo and Elegance editions. Similarly, the Slavia also gets Active, Ambition and Style variants. In addition to this, the sedan also comes with Style and Elegance editions. Also, both the SUV and the sedan come with a 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI engine options. Also, on offer are three gearbox options including a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic and a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission.

Skoda Kushaq & Slavia to get ADAS?

Rumours also suggest that the Kushaq and Slavia are likely to receive further updates in the future. These are likely to include the introduction of an ADAS system. ADAS is slowly becoming the norm of safety technology. It will not be long when the technology becomes mainstream and compulsory, just like seatbelts, airbags and other safety sensors that are currently available on all cars in India.

Skoda Kushaq and Salvia’s competitors in India, which are the Honda Elevate, Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos as well as the the Honda City and Hyundai Verna also now come with ADAS in its higher spec cars. This leads us to believe that the brand is likely to offer this soon at least in the higher-spec variants.
