The concept bike created by Centro Stile Ducati has won the ‘concept Bikes: New Design and Prototypes by Manufacturers and Independents’ category at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este which took place at Cernobbio on Lake Como. The bike was an original version of the Ducati Hypermotard 950 with new bodywork and compact full LED projector headlamps. The bikes colour scheme was inspired by urban graffiti and the mechanicals inspired by MotoGP. The Ducati prototype received thousands of likes on the brand’s social media network within a few hours time and it was confirmed by the vote of the Villa d’Este jury.
The company pays special attention to style in particular and winning a prestigious award appraises their basic values as the new elements that are displayed are useful for product advertisement. The near sibling model currently on sale in India is the ‘Hypermotard 939’ powered by 937cc, Testastretta 11 degrees, L-Twin cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with Desmodromic valve actuation producing 110 PS of power and 95 Nm of torque coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. The fuel delivery system is a Magneti Marelli Electronic Fuel Injection system with full ride by wire throttle bodies. The engine is enclosed in a tubular steel trellis chassis and rides on 43mm USD fork in the front and a progressive adjustable Sachs monoshock unit on the rear linked to a single-sided aluminium swingarm. Both wheels are lightweight 17-inch alloys. The braking duties are provided by twin 320mm hydraulically operated semi-floating discs with radially mounted 4-piston Brembo calipers on the front and a single 245mm disc with a 2 piston caliper on the rear. The brakes are equipped with dual-channel Bosch ABS system as standard.

The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este was first organised in 1929 to commemorate the elegance of historic cars and motorcycles and now it has become one of the most elite international competition. Ducati also won the Red Dot Award for style and design recently for the Diavel 1260.
