Ducati reveals Scrambler Icon Dark

Written by Parichay Malvankar

Ducati is adding a new theme for the Scrambler motorcycle range dubbed as the Scrambler Icon Dark. As the name suggests, this is an all-black motorcycle which will also go on sale here in India by early-2020. Apart from the cosmetic changes, the Scrambler Icon Dark remains mechanically unchanged compared to other variants. The bike will soon be displayed at the EICMA show in Milan in the coming weeks.

The new Scrambler Icon Dark will be the entry-level (base model) in the Scrambler bike portfolio. This bike will come in a new matte black paint, black alloy wheels, no rim stripes, silver finished tank covers, black headlamp surround and a new exhaust end can cover in silver. The bike looks quite cool in this all-black avatar. The rear view mirrors are now of a round design unlike the other models.

Powering the Ducati Scrambler Icon Dark is a 803cc, twin-cylinder, Desmodromic, air-cooled motor producing 73 HP of power @ 8250 RPM and 67 Nm of torque @ 5750 RPM matched to a 6-speed gearbox with slipper assist clutch. The bike rides on a steel trellis chassis mounted on a Kayaba 41mm USD front fork and a Kayaba rear pre-load adjustable monoshock. The Scrambler Icon Dark has a wet weight of 189 kg.

Ducati has multiple variants of the 800cc Scrambler and also a higher capacity engine on a new Scrambler model on sale. This modern motorcycle rivals the more retro-looking machines like the Triumph Bonneville.

Ducati recently revealed the Streetfighter V4 which will be the brands boldest attempt at a naked superbike. The Streetfighter V4 is nothing but a Panigale V4 without the sporty fairing and a more upright riding stance. The Streetfighter V4 will come to India in 2020 and the bike will be revealed at the EICMA show in Milan in the coming weeks. Point to note, the Ducati Streetfighter V4 has more power to offer than the supercharged Kawasaki Z H2 and the Italian is significantly lighter as well.
