Citroen CC26 sedan could be launched in India as ‘Ambassador’ to rival Honda City

In the recent past, it was reported that French car manufacturer Citroen from Groupe PSA purchased the Ambassador moniker from Hindustan motors and now the brand could be planning to use fthe name for its future sedan car in the Indian market, the CC26. The CC26 sedan will rival the likes of the Honda City, the Hyundai Verna and Groupe PSA which is now also part of the larger Stellantis Group, could introduce the sedan in 2023.

Citroen CC26

The Citroen CC26 could be manufactured in the Indian market at the PSA-CK Birla joint production facility in Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu where the upcoming C5 Aircross is being assembled. The brand is also likely to offer only a petrol powertrain on the CC26 as reports suggest that the Petrol: Diesel ratio is now currently at 75:25 and the new brand is likely to focus on the larger side of the market. But the Citroen C5 Aircross only comes with a diesel powertrain. The sedan is also likely to come with all the bells and whistles relevant to the segment such as LED lighting, a large boot space, seating for five with leatherette upholstery, contoured seats, a large central infotainment screen, fully digital instruments, control mounted steering wheel, etc. More details on the CC26 sedan is awaited.

Citroen C5 Aircross

Citroen recently revealed the C5 Aircross and the production of the SUV has already commenced at the brand’s plant in Tamil Nadu. Citroen will be launching the Aircross soon in the Indian market which comes as CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit and is likely to be positioned in the INR 25 lakh to INR 30 lakh price range. The SUV comes with a BS6 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel motor that produces 177 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque. The engine comes with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
