Build Your Dream, BYD for short is likely to expand its portfolio in India with a new product. BYD could be planning to introduce the Dolphin EV in the Indian market soon. The electric vehicle brand from China currently retails the BYD Atto 3 and the BYD E6 MPV in the Indian market. Reports reveal that the brand has filed patents at the intellectual property office in India. However, the word mark is currently under the ‘Objected’ status.
If BYD launches the Dolphin in the Indian market, the EV is likely to be positioned below the BYD Atto 3. Price-wise, BYD currently retails the Atto 3 around the INR 34 lakh ex-showroom mark and the E6 around the INR 29 lakh ex-showroom mark. In the European market, the BYD Dolphin comes with approximately a EUR 29,000 price tag. Upon launch, the electric car will compete with the MG ZS EV, upcoming Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti Suzuki eVX.
The BYD Dolphin EV measures 4290 mm in length and 1770mm in width. The EV features a 2700 mm of wheelbase and weighs 1658 kgs at the kerb. In addition to this, the BYD Dolphin also comes with a 0.301 Cd (Drag Coefficient) making its slip through the air and improve its efficiency. Powering the BYD Dolphin is a 204 PS and 310 Nm Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor with front wheel drivetrain. The BYD Dolphin comes with a top speed of around 160 kmph and a Highway/City combined range of 427 km on a single charge.
The BYD Dolphin has already received a full 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP in 2023. The Dolphin comes with multiple airbags and advanced driver assistance systems as standard. This also includes Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) & Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC). In addition to this, the BYD Dolphin also comes with a 5-inch TFT full LCD instrument panel and also a 12.8-inch electric rotatable touchscreen. Furthermore, the interiors also features a unique centre console as well as Vegan leather upholstery.
