High-Performance automobile manufacturer Bugatti has unveiled the Chiron Super Sport. The Chiron Super Sport is a new Hyper sports car with a unique combination of Top Speed and Comfort. The Bugatti Super Sport enhances the Chiron, which already has the corner carver in the form of the Chiron Pur Sport. The Chiron Super Sport taps the Grand Touring dimension, establishing a different personality in the Chiron family.
Bugatti Chiron Super Sport – Design & Aerodynamics
The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport features an aerodynamically enhanced design and comes with aero optimised bodywork. The brand incorporates its ‘form follows performance’ philosophy for the Chiron Super Sport. The streamlined bodywork features a sharp front splitter made from lightweight carbon fibre. The rear diffuser also features carbon fibre and houses quad exhaust pipes in two double-barrel configurations.
According to Bugatti, when the vehicle reaches speeds over 420 km/h, the car must offer sufficient downforce alongside minimal drag. The aerodynamic bodywork of the Chiron counters the massive uplift created at speed in excess of 400 km/h and up to even 440 km/h. To counter the high uplift, Bugatti uses massive downforce, keeping the car planted to the ground.
Boffins at Bugatti have only increased 25 centimetres of the rear of the car to maintain the laminar flow of the air over the body. Designers also employ a large diffuser cross-section pushing the edge higher and reducing the trailing surface by 44 per cent. This minimises the slipstream and wind resistance. On the front, the brand employs nine exhaust air holes on each fender to release the pressure created in the front wheel wells.
Bugatti Chiron Super Sport – Engine Specifications
Powering the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport is an 8.0-litre W16 engine. The engine has been thoroughly overhauled and the vehicle weight reduced by 23 kg. The new engine punches out 1600 PS of power, 100 PS more than the Chiron Pur Sport. The powertrain makes the same 1600 Nm of torque, but the twisting force starts from 2,000 RPM and goes all the way to 7,000 RPM, which is 1,000 RPM.
Bugatti Chiron Super Sport – Wheels & Tyres
The Chiron Super Sport comes with new aluminium wheels in a five-Y-spoke design. The hyper sports car also comes with a diamond-cut option on the alloy wheels. Also available as an option is the Chiron Pur Sport’s magnesium wheels. The ultimate Grand Tourer comes with newly developed Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres optimized for top speed. These tyres can consistently drive at up to 500 km/h.
