Next-gen Kia Seltos hybrid coming soon?
On the recently celebrated Investor Day 2025, Kia officially revealed its future plan for the global as well as Indian car market. The main focus of the brand is on the hybrid and EV models to generate the maximum sales ratio from it.
For the Indian market, Kia has a plan of introducing new hybrid models and EVs, targeting 25 per cent sales from the hybrid models and 18 per cent sales from the EVs by 2030.
The presentation photo showcased the Seltos HEV, which is likely to be based on the 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol motor. With the hybrid powertrain option, Kia will be able to compete with the Maruti Grand Vitara hybrid and Toyota Hyryder hybrid models.

The HEV or hybrid tech will be featured on the new generation model, which is currently being tested in the international market. The new car will receive a complete overhaul to its outlook, cabin, features, safety, and powertrain.
Additionally, Kia has an internal target of launching its new EVs in India, like the Kia EV4. These models will help in growing the brand in the EV space, which itself is expanding at a rapid pace in India.
With the use of hybrid technology, the Seltos will also be able to achieve more than 25 km/l of fuel economy. We can not deny the further possibility of the hybrid engine being featured on the Sonet in the future.

Our verdict
The Kia Seltos garnered popularity in the mid-size SUV segment due to its premium cabin experience and funky design. However, its sibling rival, the Hyundai Creta, has overshadowed its potential in the market. The launch of an HEV option will reboost the Seltos sales in India for sure.
