In late February of 2022, Mini announced the launch of the new Mini Cooper SE, a fully electric car in the Indian market. However, Mini revealed that all available units were sold during the pre-launch booking in Q4 2021. Now, the second batch of Mini Cooper SE electric is arriving back into the country via the CBU (Completely Built-Up) route. This is likely to include only 40 units, and the bookings for the Mini Cooper SE are already open through the official Mini website.
2022 Mini Cooper SE Electric – New Price and New Equipment
The second round of Mini Cooper SE also comes with a price hike. When Mini launched it earlier this year, the Mini Cooper SE was priced at INR 47.20 lakh ex-showroom. The new batch of cars comes with a price tag of INR 50.90 lakh ex-showroom. This makes the Cooper SE electric INR 3.70 lakh dearer on the ex-showroom cost than the first batch. However, the Mini Cooper SE electric now features Adaptive LED headlamps, Driving Assistant, Parking Assistant, Comfort Access, Sports seats with new Cloth and Leatherette upholstery, and seat heating for both driver and passenger.
2022 Mini Cooper SE Electric – Powertrain
Powering the Mini Cooper SE Electric is a 135kW/184 Hp electric motor. The electric powertrain is capable of producing 270 Nm of torque, claiming an acceleration of 0-100 kph in just 7.3 seconds. The 32.6 kWh battery is also capable of providing a driving range of 270 km on a single charge. Mini also claims that the all-electric Mini Cooper SE can achieve a top speed of 150 kmph. At a 50 kW DC Charger the Mini Cooper SE electric takes 36 mins to achieve 80% state-of-charge. The car is capable of charging in 2 hours 30 minutes at an 11 kW AC Charger. Also, at a 2.3 kW AC Charger the Mini Cooper SE takes 9 hours 43 minutes to achieve an 80% state-of-charge.
