BMW has revealed the BMW 8 Series ‘Golden Thunder Edition’, a luxury sports cars positioned as collector’s item, available across the BMW 8 Series Coupé, Convertible and Gran Coupé range available from September 2020. The Golden Thunder Edition vehicles will be produced at the brand’s Dingolfing manufacturing facility.
The Golden Thunder Edition is available in all three body variants features specific design accentuations in gold, giving it a custom-built appearance along with BMW Individual equipment features on both the exterior and interior. The 8 Series Golden Thunder Edition comes with the M Sport package as a standard part of the pack but the car remains mechanically unchanged.
On the exterior, the BMW 8 Series Golden Thunder Edition comes with a Sapphire Black metallic or Frozen Black metallic finish with gold accentuations on the front apron, side skirt, rear bumper, spoiler and ORVMs. It also gets BMW Individual High Gloss Shadow Line with black M Sport brake callipers contrasted by the gold accents running along the line and gold finish 20-inch M light-alloy wheels in double-spoke design.
On the interiors, the BMW 8 Series Golden Thunder Edition features Aluminium Mesh Effect in Gold, Golden Thunder Edition on the centre console, Crafted Clarity glass applications, BMW Individual Merino leather upholstery in black, BMW Individual Alcantara Anthracite roof liner for the BMW 8 Series Coupé and BMW 8 Series Gran Coupé, “Edition Golden Thunder” embroidered on the front seat headrests, Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System etc.
BMW a couple of months ago launched the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupé and the M8 Coupé in the Indian market starting at INR 1.3 crore ex-showroom. The 8 Series Gran Coupé – 840i and the 840i M Sport are powered by a BS6 compliant 3.0-litre TwinPower Turbo straight-six cylinder petrol engine that produces 340 HP and 500 Nm of torque matched to an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission, M Sport differential, adaptive suspension and the BMW M8 Coupé is powered by a BS6 compliant 4.0-litre M TwinPower Turbo V-8 cylinder petrol engine that produces 600 HP of power and 750 Nm of torque matched to an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission with M Sport Differential, M xDrive – intelligent all-wheel-drive technology, Adaptive M Suspension.
As of now, BMW has not announced if the BMW 8 Series Golden Thunder Edition will be available in the Indian market.
