Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has announced that the brand has sold over 1 lakh units of the much-popular Hyundai Venue which claims to be India’s first Fully Connected SUV. The brand launched the Venue last year and within one year of its launch, the company has sold 97,400 in the Indian market and 7,400 unit in the international markets and achieved many milestones with this number.
The SUV has also managed to become the highest-selling sub-4-Meter Compact SUV in CY 2020 in India (Jan-May) and nearly 44 % of its sale comes from the brand’s advanced Kappa 1.0-litre T-GDi Turbo-Petrol engine, indicating a trend shift towards the petrol engine variants even in the compact SUV segment. The company has also announced that the 1.0-litre T-GDi turbo-petrol engine paired to the 7-Speed DCT transmission has a sales figure of nearly 15,000 units with 30% of sales contribution from the BS6 1.5-litre U2 CRDi Diesel engine, in the period of Mar-June 2020. Also, over 30,000 Venue customers opted for the variants with the BlueLink Connected Technology.
In the engine department, the Hyundai Venue comes with a 1.2-litre Kappa naturally-aspirated petrol engine with dual VTVT that produces 83 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque, a turbocharged 1.0-litre direct-injection petrol engine that produces 120 PS of power and 171 Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre U2 CRDi diesel engine that makes 100 PS of power and 240 Nm of torque, all of which are BS6 compliant. The BS6 1.5-litre U2 CRDi Diesel replaces the BS4 compliant 1.4-litre U2 CRDi engine produced 90 PS of power and 220 Nm of torque, that was launched with the vehicle. With the new engine, the power and torque figures have been increased by 10 PS and 20 Nm respectively.
The Hyundai Venue has also been awarded 4-stars for safety at the ANCAP (Australia New Car Assessment Programme) and the test was performed on the variant which comes with features such as dual-front airbags, side airbags, curtain airbags, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, emergency lane keeping, etc.
The Hyundai Venue is priced starting at INR 6.70 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi for the 1.2L Kappa Dual VTVT Petrol 5-Speed Manual VENUE 1.2 Kappa MT E model and goes upto INR 11.50 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi for the top-spec 1.5 l U2 CRDi Diesel Diesel 6-Speed Manual VENUE 1.5 CRDi MT SX(O) Dual Tone Dual Tone variant.
